Comparison Thief of Joy

2026
Clay and paint
12 × 8 × 11 in.

Inspired by the phrase “comparison is the thief of joy,” this sculpture explores my tendency to compare myself to people who appear happy and carefree. The two sides represent competing emotional states, with the blue form pulling away from the brighter, more joyful side. The piece reflects how comparison can distort happiness even when it is already present.
